How we checked

Last checked October 20, 2026 against cvfc3.com. Before anything appears here, a separate check fetches each source again and confirms that every date we show is in the quoted text.

Notes from the last check

The Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company's own site confirms the Pony Swim is held annually and lists the 2026 swim as July 29 (auction July 30); the 2027 carnival is scheduled for July 26–31, but no official source gives the 2027 swim date, so the 2027 edition is recorded as expected from the last-Wednesday-and-Thursday-in-July rule quoted by Virginia Tourism.
